The headline says it all: Irak Parlamentosu'ndan BM tasarisina ret, according to Hürriyet. I don't see too much attention being paid to Turkish publications, which is odd, given the central location of the country in all these recent events. In fact, I could be wrong, but I haven't seen any mention of Turkey at all in the main publications, other than a few feather-rufflings over the recent elections there, and even those were inconclusive. There was some discussion of just how theocratic the new ruling party would be, but the consensus seemed to be that there was no consensus and, anyway, it didn't matter. This cheerful insouciance made me think of a scene in the original movie King Kong, in which the expeditionary party comes across a dangerous prehistoric animated beast of some kind, dispatches it handily, and then marches further into the jungle. The leader of the expedtion pauses long enough to say: "Must be a creature from the mezozoic era!" Everyone else just moves on.
